So, there was this book cover that needed a photo of a chocolate cake with a fork in it. OK…. Ever willing to oblige where food photography is concerned, I thought about baking one myself, but given the short lead time, realized there was no room for kitchen mistakes. Enter “Cakes to Die For” on Market Street, in Frederick, MD. In a matter of hours they’d created this beauty.
Usually, when photographing food, we’re doing things to make it look beautiful that, sadly, also render the food inedible. It always feels like such a shame, but not so, this time. After photography was all done, the cake was parceled out to friends and family. Yep, I had a piece, too. Delicious, and I’m not even a chocolate freak.
