A recent assignment required some roses, half a dozen each of red and white. In this case each one was hand chosen for it’s beauty. After photographing them for the ad, I did a few fun, for me. Because they’re beautiful.
I got into this business of photography because I liked creating images of what struck me as beautiful or dramatic. Almost all my personal work was and still is of that type. After 32 years I still find those kinds of subjects, perhaps just not photographing them quite as often; either because I’ve already done it many times before or, sometimes, just because I want to experience it unfiltered by a lens. Basically, then, to simply observe.
