When Matt first called asking about jewelry photography for Black Orchid Luxury, we began what I hope will be another long term client relationship.
With their beautifully designed gold and silver earrings, Matt and his wife Smaiyra are a pleasure to work with, and Smaiyra was superb as she modeled the earrings both for their page header and the close ups of the earrings as worn.
In preparation for photography, Robin Farrell (https://rcfarrell.com ) and I reported early to Jason Cline’s Lockhouse Studio (https://www.lockhousestudios.com/) to set the backgound, the lighting, white balance and to test everything so that our clients could simply walk in and be ready to roll once they and the earrings arrived.
After we completed the model photography at Lockhouse, I took 10 pairs of earrings – 5 each in gold and in silver – and an array of props to be photographed in my own studio specifically designed for high end jewelry photography.
Once there, I prepared the lighting, props and diffusion necessary for close up work with shiny subjects like jewelry. I like a combination of powerful studio strobes and continuous lighting in order to better see the results of changes made to the set and composition.
Both sessions went off without a hitch, and we are all very happy with the results. We at Jeff Behm Photography are also extremely happy with this quote from Matthew: “Trusting Jeff with photography for my business was a great decision. From start to finish, Jeff worked diligently to understand my needs and proactively made helpful suggestions. He was a true professional who communicated promptly, clearly, and honestly. On the day of our photoshoot, Jeff was set up and ready to go on time with modern equipment, including an iPad synched to the camera so that we could review the photos in real-time. The final results were spectacular and I couldn’t be happier with the entire process.”
