Frederick, MD. City of the Clustered Spires

A recent commission to photograph the steeples of Frederick’s many churches led to the photo seen here.  The goal is a panoramic view of the city’s church steeples that lie behind the “clustered spires” associated with historic Frederick.  Part of what makes Frederick special is the lack of high buildings interfering with our view of the many spires.  Not all are as peaked and towering as others, but I count 7 churches visible in this view, covering only a few blocks in distance.

Come visit Frederick.  You may never want to leave.

Update:  My client needed to condense the reality portrayed above for artistic reasons, so asked that I create a semi-realistic abbreviated version.  It definitely helps with the “clustered” look for the clustered spires.
